Kenneth L. Mumaw, 78, of Martinsburg, died Nov. 10, 2009, at WVUH- East/ City Hospital.
He was the son of the late Russell Taft Mumaw and Arvella Marie Clark Mumaw.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Peachey Mumaw. He is survived by one brother, William V. Mumaw; and two sisters, Geraldine A. Miller and Phyllis B. LeHew, all of Martinsburg.
He had several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great nieces here in the U.S. and in Scotland. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Romeo, whom he rescued from the SPCA and was his loving companion.
He was retired from Abex Corporation in Winchester. He was employed as a quality control inspector and machinist for over 20 years.
He was a U.S. sailor during the Korean War and had sailed on several ships during the war. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion of Martinsburg.
He was an annual sponsor for the Berkeley County Humane Society and the National SPCA.
He was a faithful member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Martinsburg. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. John R. Yost officiating. Military graveside service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
