Frances Virginia Mumma Hildebrand, born in Sharpsburg, Md. in January 1901 and died on May 5th, 1983, Hagerstown, MD at the age of 82. She was the daughter of Victor Reichard Mumma, Sr. and Beulah Land Wilson Mumma. She married Clyde Gardner Hildebrand who died in 1975 a the age of 77.
She is survived by 3 sons, Richard Mumma Hildebrand of Huntington Beach, California, John Edwin Hildebrand of Williamsport, Md and Robin Douglas Hildebrand of San Diego California and one sister and four brothers, Sarah Eleanor Mumma Bell of Riverdale, Md; Victor Reichard Mumma, Jr. of Boonsboro, Md.; Samuel Calvin Mumma of Hagerstown, Md., Edwin Wilson Mumma of Norman Oklahoma and Wilmer McKendree Mumma of Sharpsburg, Md. She was proceeded in death by one sister, Veulah Victorine Mumma Morgan.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Hagerstown and was very active in the choir as well as other church activities.
She was extremely interested in the History of Sharpsburg, Md., the Battle of Antietam and her family history. She wrote many articles about them. Her retrospective on The Sharpsburg Rifles was puiblished and well received.
She was a medical secretary.
Services were held at the Norment Funeral Home of Hagerstown and was buried at Rest Haven Cemetery.
