Lavinia Mumaw

ORRVILLE -- Lavinia E. Mumaw, 98, 333 E. Sassafras, Orrville, formerly of Bodine Road, Dalton, died Tuesday morning, June 26, 2007, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, where she had resided for the last four years.
Services will be Friday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Martins Mennonite Church near Orrville, with the Rev. Monroe Slabach officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday, June 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home, 512 E. Oak St., Orrville, or one hour prior to services at the church. Online registry and expressions of condolence may be left at www.aublefuneralhome.com.

Lavinia was born July 14, 1908, near Marshallville, to the late Philip and Mary (Steiner) Hilty and married Stanford R. Mumaw on Aug. 1, 1933, in Rittman. He died Jan. 18, 1973.
She attended Goshen College and graduated from Kent State Normal School (now Kent State University). She worked as an elementary school teacher for Chippewa Township Schools and Dalton Elementary Schools for a total of 25 years.
She was a member of Martins Mennonite Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in the Women's Missionary and Service Commission. She spent 65 years in the family home, where she enjoyed gardening, music, and entertaining.
Surviving are children, Maxine (Leroy) Yoder of Elkhart, Ind., Elsie (Roger) Maiwurm of Marshallville, Lucille (Norm) Shank of Mechanicsburg, Pa., W. Lloyd (Ferne) Mumaw of Dalton and Loretta (Roger) Baur of Wooster; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Vernon Mumaw, brothers, Noah, Ira, Wesley, Dan, and Elmer Hilty, sisters, Della Hilty and Fannie Eberly, a son-in-law, Glenn Hartzler, and a great-granddaughter, Caroline Hartzler.
