Death Notices-Baltimore Sun-1851-1853:
William Mumma, 66, s /of Christian and Catherine, died 2/2/1851, page 99
William's property was partitioned between his heirs. It is a wonderful document that even refers back to his father, Christian's' deeds.and fully describes the property.in Gardenville, MD
Deed GHC 23 folio 289. 25 August 1858 - the parties were:
1) Joshua "X" Mumma [son of William]]
2) Catherine Ann Melchior [daughter of William]
3) Harmon Melchior [husband of Catherine]
4) Elizabeth "X" Mumma [daughter of William]
5) John Thomas L Mumma [son of William]
6) Nicholas "X" Mumma [son of William of Frederick County]
7) John "X" Mumma [brother of William]
8} Henry "X" Mumma [brother of William]
9) Ann "X" Mumma [wife of William]
One thing that is not clear is why his children, Susanna and Christian, from his first marriage to Belinda Stansbury were not identified. Were they not his children and Belinda was married to another William Mumma??
One very important fact was the identification of Nicholas of Frederick County. This allowed the connection of Jesse Nicholas Mumma of Frederick County.as the son of William.
