Notes:
The Ohio records record her name as Elliott. She was adopted as a young child by the Elliot family as listed below - note from John W. Mumaw, a grandson.
"Mary Elizabeth Hawley-Elliott-Mumaw The daughter of Esther Bennett Hawley and George Ferguson Hawley died at her home in Garrettsville, Ohio two years after her husband Wesley Mumaw. She had been in ill health for about two years. She leaves five daughters and three sons. She had one sister Sula who died when young. She is buried at Garrettsville, Ohio. Mary Elizabeth's father left her mother when she was too young to remember that the Elliots of Justus, Ohio who raised her were not her real parents. Esther Bennett Hawley sewed for the Elliots and saw her often; yet, it was not until she was 16 that she found out she was adopted and she said it fairly killed her. Later when she married and had a home of her own she shared it with her own mother. The Eliotts who raised her left her enough money to give each of her 8 children $400.00. This home was the farm in Troy Township, Geauga County, Ohio whence she came after marrying Wesley Mumaw."
