Retired Engineer E. E. Mumaw Dies
Everett E. Mumaw, 81, a retired structural engineer, died Monday in Fairview General Hospital.
Before entering college, he made topographic surveys for the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey in the Philippine Islands and Alaska. He was interested in calendar reform and had worked on a spectrum calendar since 1925. He presented his calendar at a meeting of the League of Nations in 1927. His calendar divided the year into 13 months of equal length, with the 13th month named Spacer.
Mr. Mumaw was graduated from the former Case School of Applied Science.
He was formerly associated with the American Bridge Co., Dravo Contracting Co. and the McClintic Marshall Co. of Pittsburgh. At intervals, he made his home here. In recent years he lived at Kingsville, O.
Surviving are his wife Rachel; his former wife Mrs. Dorotha Pike Mumaw; sons, John P., James G. and Dr. Everett D. E., a brother and a sister. Services will be at the Saxton funeral home, 13215 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, at 10 a.m. today.
