A. E. Mewmaw Services Thursday
Funeral services for A. E. Mewmaw, D. C. 2417 W. Colorado Ave., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Blunt Mortuary. The Rev. K. O. Backstrand will officiate. Cremation will follow.
Dr. Mewmaw, 85, died Sunday at his home. Born Oct. 3, 1883, in Payson, Ill., he had been a resident of this area since 1909.
He came to Colorado in 1903 and lived in Eaton, Boulder and Denver. He was engaged in the picture framing and decorating business for several years and in 1919 attended the Palmer School of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He practiced his profession until his death.
He was a charter member of Colorado Springs Lodge 244, Loyal Order of Moose, and was active in sponsoring the 1960 Golden Anniversary celebration. He held the Honor of Pilgrim Degree, the highest honor in the Loyal Order of Moose. He was a member and past president of the West side Commercial Club; was a charter member of International Footprinter, Chapter 37; member of the Colorado Chiropractic Association, and the Colorado Springs Minrological Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Janet Hower of Salida; and four grandchildren, Donnette, Carolyn, Pamela and Kenneth Hower, all of Salida.
