A note posted of Find-A-Grave
"John E. Mewmaw 1839 - 1910
John E. Mewmaw was born on August 14, 1839 in Adams County, Illinois and died there in Payson Township on February 9, 1910. He married Caroline Fried/Freed on November 5, 1863 in Adams County, Illinois. She died on June 12, 1926, they are buried in the Payson new Cemetery at Payson in Adams County, Illinois.
Note: At one time there was a Mewmaw Cemetery on the bluff in the NW 1/4 of Section 31, of Payson Township and there may have been as many as 10 to 15 grave markers in this cemetery but all have been removed, the last 2 were moved down off the bluff and placed in front of the old stone house that once belonged to the Mewmaw family. I believe they may have been John E. Mewmaw's mother and a younger brother, the markers read;
Amelia Mewmaw "Mother"
Born - April 6, 1813 - Died - April 3, 1849
Hezekiah Mewmaw s/o Joseph and Amelia Mewmaw
Born March 23, 1849 - Died - January 19, 1850"
