Obit for Evelyn L. Snyder [Mumma]
Hastings resident Evelyn Lucinda (Mumma) Snyder, 74, of 1118 Jefferson Ave. died Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joe Scahill and the Rev. Fred Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Butler-Volland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Snyder was born April 22, 1922, to Ralph and Esther (Althouse) Mumma in Nelson. She graduated from Nelson High School. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1946. On Dec. 27, 1946, she married Ray A. Snyder. She was a home economics and science teacher. In 1957 she moved to Hastings from Gering. She taught at the Hastings Junior High School for 12 years retiring in 1978.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Association of American University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, YWCA, United Methodist Women, Adams County Home Economics Association, Retired Teachers Association, Adams County Genealogical Society and Golden K Kiwanis Club. She was an honorary member of Future Homemakers of America and a life member of Parent Teacher Association.
Survivors are her husband; one son, Fred J of Lincoln; three brothers, Merle Mumma of Loranger, La., Ray Mumma of Port Hueneme, Calif., and Charles Mumma of Grand Island; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the family's choice.
