Ray Leroy Mumma (1929 - 2011)

Nov. 4, 1929 - Feb. 4, 2011 Ray Mumma, loving husband and wonderful father went to be with Jesus, his personal Lord and Savior on February 4, 2011 after a long illness. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Ray was born November 14, 1929 in a farm house in Nelson, Nebraska to Ralph and Esther Mumma. He had two brothers and one sister. Ray met the love of his life while in High School. He married Kathryn Holms on May 29, 1949. They have been married for 61 marvelous years. They spent the first five years of their married life working the farm in Nelson. They then moved to Lincoln, NE. There he repaired fountain pens and worked for Singer Sewing Machines.
They moved to California from Nebraska in 1958, he worked for Dansco Coin Company for eight years. He went on to work at the Willamette Paper Mill in Port Hueneme, where he retired after 26 years of service. Ray and Kathryn loved to travel and took many camping trips with their family. In later years, they traveled with the Good Sam Club in their 5th wheel. They also took various cruises together and some with their family. A lot of wonderful memories were made on those vacations!
One of Ray's favorite hobbies was woodworking. He has made everything from beautiful bookcases and nativity sets to fun mailboxes. Ray was a devoted Christian and an active faithful member of Oxnard Grace Bible Church. He helped design and build the Living Christmas Tree and the Living Cross that the church has presented for many years. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to any work that needed to be done.
Ray is survived by his wonderful wife Kathryn; son Leroy Mumma and wife Vickie of Oxnard; son Bill Mumma and wife Carol of Rochester, WA; daughter Raelene Huntoon of Bellevue, NE; son Philip Mumma wife Rhonda of Camarillo; daughter Linda Jones and husband Dick of Whidbey Island, WA; brother Merle Mumma of Loranger, LA; adorable grandchildren Brent Mumma of Susanville, CA; Matthew Mumma and wife Sera of Jackson, WY; Tiffany Mumma of Jackson, WY; Bryan Mumma and wife Mallory of Tumwater, WA; Sarah Holland of Rochester, WA; Jared Mumma and wife Keri of Olympia, WA; Aaron Mumma of Rochester, WA; Nathan Huntoon and wife Teresa of Farmers Branch, TX; Joshua Huntoon and wife Jolene of Bellevue, NE; Rachael Huntoon of Bellevue, NE; Cory, Jacob and Kara Mumma of Camarillo; Debbie Wilkie and husband Nathen of Whidbey Island, WA and David Jones also of Whidbey Island, WA. Ray is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Esther Mumma, brother Charles Mumma and his sister Evelyn Snyder.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park. A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Grace Bible Church, 936 W. 5th St., Oxnard. A graveside service will follow immediately at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, 2052 Howard Rd., Camarillo.
