Notes:
Data information supplied by Doug Mumma doug@mumma.org
They settled in Dumfries South Twp., Brant County, Ontario, Canada and then moved to Allegan Co., MI
1) His birth was listed as 2 SEP 1777 in Lancaster County, PA on the old MUMA web site. It is unclear regarding the source of this information? Reviewing the 1850 through 1880 census of Michigan shows quite a different picture. George is enumerated in all of these census and it lists his birth location as New York.
During this time period, George lived in Allegan Co., MI
1850 George age 52 b. New York, Sally age 50 b. Canada + 4 children
1860 George age 62 b. New York with daughter Sarah Finn and 2 of her children living with him
1870 George age 72 b. New York, Mary age 68 b. Vermont (must be a new wife)
1880 George age 82 b. New York living with his daughter, Olive Hill (new wife died?)
The 1880 census is most informative because the person and his parent's places of birth were recorded. Many of his children are also listed in other areas of the cenus, providing additional information as to where they thought he was born.

The data for George, either provided by himself or by his children, is quite consistent. He was obviously born about 1797 in New York state, which is quite different from 2 SEP 1777 in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania reported by others!!
Of further interest is the fact that George (or whom ever reported for him) thought that his mother and father were both born in Holland which can be a generic term for Germany since essentially all immigrant ships sailed from Holland at the mouth of the Rhine River. However, there were MOMMAs living in Holland and so Holland could either be a general or specific place of birth for his parents.
I believe George was the only descendant of Jacob and Betsy living at the time of the 1880 American census. This census records parent's birth location. Since this is "first generation" information for George, it is compelling evidence that Jacob & Betsy migrated directly to Pennsylvania or New York state from Germany after their marriage and prior to the first child being born. This would seem to be about the end of the Revolutionary War. This is an important issue to clarify.
Moved to Canada with parents, Jacob and Betsey, when he was young. Moved to Pine Plains, Allegan County, Mich. Feb. 6, 1837.
