AARON MUMAW DIES IN DAUGHTER'S HOME
Former Brick Firm Official Succumbs In 98th Year
Aaron Mumaw, an official of the former Holloway Brick Co. and who also operated a grocery store and was in the real estate business in Canton, died Sunday morning in the home of his son in law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Bowman of 225 21st st NW. He was 97 years old.
Born on a farm near Mt. Eaton, Mr. Mumaw taught school for a short time before going to Orrville where he owned and operated a drug store. In 1886 he came to Canton and for a time operated a grocery store on the southwest corner of Tuscarawas st W an Cleveland ave. Disposing of his grocery business he sold real estate for several years before becoming an official of the former Holloway Brick Co. He retired from business activities 25 years ago.
Mr. Mumaw was a charter member of Calvary Presbyterian church. In addition to the daughter in whose home he died, he is survived by another daughter, Mrs. W. E. Best of Ilion, N.Y., three sons, Welker M. of Dalton, John H. of Canton and Lloyd G. Mumaw of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers, Henderson Mumaw, 94, of Cuyahoga Falls and Henry M. Mumaw, 91, of Bernharts, Pa.; 19 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Bowman home in charge of Rev. John B. Barker and burial will be in Westlawn cemetery. The body will be taken to the home today at 5 from the Spiker parlors.
