[Note: a death date of 16 August 1919 is listed in the Indiana death index]
Lewis' birth and death dates were provided by Paul Mumaugh (of Hollidaysburg, PA, now decease d), a descendant of Isaac Mumaugh. Paul said Lewis was born 1836. The 1860 census indicated he was born about 1834. If he was born in 1836, he was possibly a twin of Isaac. However, subs equent census records, seem to confirm his birth in 1834. Lewis and Barbaras marriage is rec orded in a list compiled by the DAR and also in the IGI as 20 April 1854, and it seems unlike ly that Lewis would have married at the age of 18. Leota Parker indicated that Lewis and Barb ara were divorced, which has been confirmed with the finding of subsequent marriage records f or him. From his father's will, Lewis received the sum of $10, while his siblings received co nsiderably more. Perhaps he was a victim of alcohol as were the family members of his brother , Morgan.
