Birth ABT 1817 from 1870 census, ABT 1818 from 1850 census.
In 1842 George shows up in a local census of Franklin County, PA.
The 1843 Franklin County Tax Records of Peters township, Franklin County, PA records that Geo is a sf (single freeman), laborer, and owns no house, horses, or cows but is taxed on his annual income of $166.
The 1847 Bedford County Assessment Book indicates that George Mummaugh is single and owns 2 horses value 40 and 2 cattle value 10.
The 1850 Licking Creek township, Fulton County, PA census indicates that David is 59 years old and born in PA. He is living with a Barbara Mumma 59, George Mumma 32, Elizabeth 4, and Elizabeth Straits 22 within a few houses from Jacob, Jacob's wife Sarah, and their children. (David is the father and Jacob is the brother.)
In the 1850 census living with the Mumma household is an Elizabeth Strait, age 22. Could this be the woman that he later marries? We know that George eventually marries an Elizabeth and has children by her as listed in the 1870 census. The age of Elizabeth pretty much matches in both censuses.
We do not know where George lives in 1860. He is not listed in Fulton or Franklin Counties nor in any other state under all the multitude of spellings.
In 1870 he is listed in Fulton County per Federal Census (Licking Creek 144 F 148.)

According to the 1870 census his son is David not Daniel as indicated in other web sites.

One idea speculated by Doug Mumma is that Elizabeth age 4 listed in the 1850 census is a daughter of George. She is listed directly under his name in the 1850 census for Fulton County. At this time, George was living with his parents at age 32. This is highly suggestive that this was his daughter and his first wife had died. The above Assessment Book record does not support this; it indicates that he was single in 1847.
The other idea tossed out by Pamela Mumma is that Elizabeth Mumma was Jacob's (George's brother) daughter but living with the grandparents at the time of the census. Jacob, his brother, lives next door; Jacob also lists an Elizabeth age 4 in his household in the 1850 census. We know that Elizabeth J., Jacob's daughter, married Samual Hockensmith.
Neither idea is substantiated by primary data. Information is requested.
In 1880 after much census looking I have found a George Mume 63, Elisebeth 53 wife, David H (maybe N. or W.) 19 son and Anny 25 daug living in Coalmont borough, Huntingdon County, PA. I believe this to be this family. Charity would be 25 in this census, Anny could be her middle name. Other 3 names and ages match.
