Lena Ellen Sherman, age 87, of Strasburg and formerly of Manassas passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Skyline Terrace Nursing Home, Woodstock.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Stover Funeral Home, Strasburg with Pastor Dusty Dillman officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Middletown.
Ms. Sherman was born April 3, 1924 in Shenandoah County, a daughter of the late John William and Lora Eliza Mumaw Sherman. She was a homemaker, had been employed at Strasburg Silk Mill, Crown Cork & Seal of Winchester and a private nanny. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are three sons, Maurice Richard Keeler of Middletown, Edward Allen Keeler of Winchester and John Robert Keeler of Prince George; a daughter, Shirley Ann Williams of Winchester; four sisters, Viola Dunmire of Stafford, Ruby Middleton and Lovata Jenkins, both of Strasburg and Roxie Scheuch of Martinsburg, WV; eight grandchildren, one step-grandson, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy and Curtis Sherman, a sister, Eva Keeler and a grandson, Irvin "Bugsy" Williams, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Michael Keeler, Matthew Boley, Justin Keeler, Matthew Keeler, Nathan Jessup and Jeremy Peacemaker.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 P.M. and will meet there at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday.
