Ella Louise Summers Bowers, 73, of New Market, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Bowers was born Jan. 14, 1932, in Shenandoah County, and was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Harrison and Virginia Moomaw.
She was employed at the Timberville Nursing Home and had also worked at Byrds and Frederickson Orchards and Rockingham Poultry. She was a member of the Brethren Church.
On July 3, 1948, she married Willard "Buck" G. Summers, who preceded her in death March 22, 1969. On July 28, 1969, she married Isaac David Bowers, who preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1983.
Survivors include five sons, Michael L. Summers, Willard G. Summers Jr. and Sherwin W. Summers, all of Broadway, Wilfred W. Summers of Harrisonburg, and Donald A. Summers of New Market; two daughters, Sandra S. Stead of Mount Jackson and Ellen L. Custer of Broadway; a brother, Author Moomaw of New Market; two sisters, Millie Dugger of New Market and Leliah Plauger of Mount Jackson; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Stephen Estep will conduct a graveside service 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Timberville Cemetery.
