GDM] Listed in the 1850 census for Keene Twp., Ionia Co., MI as being 63 years old. That would put his date of birth about 1787. He was listed as a farmer. Also listed in the census was his wife Charlott (without "e"), age of 59. That would put her date of birth about 1791. Their real estate was valued at $300. Number of individuals in household over 50 who cannot read or write (1). Jacob is listed as being born in New York and Charlott is listed as being born in New Jersey. Their house was the 530th in the visitation order and their family was number 542. Jacob later returned to St. George, South Dumfries Twp., Brant County, Ontario, Canada where he is listed in the 1871 Census of his son Michael's house. I am related to a Starnaman. I discovered three Starnamans, in three very small farm Cem's, just around my home in St. George Ontario. In Papple Cemetery, Hwy #99 ( between St. George, Brantford and Lynden) The grave yard is in very bad shape. The stone reads : On Front : Elizabeth Mattews, wife of Michael Muma, born in New York, Sept 3 1817. died Oct 4 1877 age 70y,1m & 1d On the Right Side of Stone: Jacob Muma, born in Virgina 178?(6), died Sept 27 1878 Age 95 yrs Under this is: Susan Starnaman, wife of Jacob Muma born, Pensylvania, 1794, died Aug 12 1843, Age 93 yrs. In St George Baptist Cem,( Burt Rd) very small and many stones hard to read. Margaret wife of Daniel Starnaman. I took pictures but I must chalk rub it to be sure what it said. St George Cem ( Branchon Rd, Main St or St George Rd/ They keep changing the name. But it is the main Cem in St. George.) Mary Daughter of Daniel Starnaman, I must also Chalk rub this one. She is by herself, no other stones or names that she might be related to, with her. I have not yet found Dainel. In the Papple Cem there are stones for Muma, I believe mother and father. Just small ones, I would need to rub these also if you would like the info off them. Christine Garrison ********************** Comments by Doug Mumma doug@mumma.org ************************ There is a Jacob MUMA, age 63, listed in the 1850 census of Keene Twp., Ionia Co., Michigan which lists him being born in NY, yet the MUMA web site lists his birth as Frederick County, VA. I can find no supporting evidence that Jacob was born in Virginia. Also, there is an inconsistency between the birth date of his first child (Benjamin) that has been recorded on some sites and his marriage date. This should be resolved. I believe Benjamin, b: abt 1810 is not his child as evidenced by the 1852 census shown below.
