In 1930 federal census he is found widowed and living with 7 year old grandson, Oscar Prior, in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, PA
Obituary reads:
DANIEL B. MUMMA
Daniel Barnet Mumma, 76, retired farmer, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Reka Laughlin, of Newburg, Saturday of a heart attack. Mr. Mumma had been in failing health for the past three years.
Among those surviving are two sons, Clarence Mumma, Omaha, Neb., and Robert Mumma, Missouri Valley, Iowa; six daughters, Mrs Laughlin, Newburg; Mrs. Ida Coy, Shippensburg; Mrs. Laura Keefer, Shippensburg; Mrs Hattie Johnson, Leesburg; Mrs Edna Pryor, Enola; and Mrs. Rose Porter, Shippensburg; also 35 grandchildren, three brothers, James Mumma, Iowa City; Harvey Mumma, Texas, and John Mumma, Montana; one sister, Mrs. John Snyder, Knobsville.
Funeral services were held in Shippensburg at the home of Mrs. Porter, Wednesday morning, at 10:30 o'clock, with Rev. Williams, pastor of the Church of God, Harrisburg, officiating. Burial was in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg.
