In the 1880 census of Sidney, IA, His wife, Hettie is listed as Mehilabel, age 36 and he is age 34, she was born in Illinois. Kate is 15 and Clara J. is 10
In 1900, Jacob is still living in Sidney, but as a boarder in the house of Adam Metelman. Hettie is living in the household of her daughter, Mary Catherine, in Des Moines. Both list each other as widowed so they are likely divorced.
In the 1910 census, Jacob has remarried to a woman named Calista and they are living in Washington State, Skagit Co., Anacortes. It is the 2nd marriage for both of them. Jacob remains here until he dies.
