OLD CITIZEN DEAD
W.L. Mewmaw of Liberty Tp. Passes Away
On last Thursday Mr. W. L. Mewmaw, an old respected citizen of Liberty township died after an illness extending over several months. The funeral was conducted on last Saturday at Sullivan First Church by Rev. Geo. P. Sturges of the Milan Methodist Church. The remains were laid to rest in the Shatto Cemetery. Deceased was in his seventieth year and had lived on the place where he died since 1883.
He was a member of the Christian church and was a good man in the truest sense of the word. He leaves a widow and five sons who will miss his love and counsel. Two of these sons are engaged in the mercantile business in Milan and one in the same business in Mystic, Iowa. J.E. Mewmaw is principal of the north ward school here while the youngest, Fred, lives near the homestead on a farm.
